教員公募要項(未来先端研究機構海外ラボラトリー(カロリンスカ研究所)非常勤研究員)

1.募集内容 Postdoctoral Researcher Fellowship
Affiliation: Gunma University Initiative for Advanced Research
Work location: 3-39-22 Showa-Machi, Maebashi, Gunma 371-8511 JAPAN
2.任期 Type of contract: Fixed-term employee
Contract Period: The period of employment will be from the agreed upon start date until March 31, 2019. The contract period can then be renewed until March 31, 2020.
3.組織概要 [Research]
Mass spectrometry-based metabolomics has become an integral method for understanding health and disease. However, the method is generally slow due to the need for incorporating chromatographic analysis. There is a need to develop rapid high-throughput mass spectrometry-based metabolomics for applications in large-scale molecular phenotyping studies. The aim of this project is to develop and employ methods for rapid mass spectrometry-based molecular phenotyping at the population level. The successful applicant will be part of a team applying high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS)-based metabolomics to perform deep molecular phenotyping. The acquired phenotype profiles will be integrated with patient meta-data to identify relationships between metabolic trajectories and sub-phenotypes of respiratory disease. These efforts will require significant experience in mass spectrometry as well as sample preparation. A primary task of the project will involve developing novel sample preparation strategies suitable for direct injection-based metabolomics. The project will be conducted in close collaboration with Agilent Technologies. The successful applicant will be involved in a dedicated team of researchers focused on determining a quantitative definition of health and the associated deviations due to respiratory disease or environmental stress.

[Environment]
The Karolinska Institute (KI) has established a Molecular Phenotyping group at the Gunma University Institute for Advanced Research (GIAR). The current post-doctoral position is being recruited to work in this group under the supervision of Associate Prof. Craig Wheelock from KI. Daily supervision will be provided by Assistant Prof. Romanas Chaleckis at GIAR. For the purposes of this project, the laboratory has purchased an Agilent RapidFire 365 high-throughput system, an Agilent Bravo automated liquid handling platform, and an Extrahera™ automation system for Supported Liquid Extraction (SLE) and Solid Phase Extraction (SPE). The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the art instrumentation including 3 QToFs, 1 triple quadrupole, and 1 GC-MS, as well renovated laboratory facilities. The official language of the lab is English, and most affiliated researchers and administrative support staff speak English. Additional information on the group is available at: http://www.metabolomics.se/.
4.職務内容 (1) Perform research in the field of metabolomics and analytical chemistry
(2) Promote formation of a research base for domestic and overseas researchers.
5.待遇 According to Gunma University Employment Regulations for Part-time Employees, salary will be determined based on the successful applicant’s experience. The position includes health insurance, pension, and labor insurance.
6.応募資格等 We are looking for highly motivated candidates with a Ph.D. in mass spectrometry or bioanalytical chemistry and experience in small molecule mass spectrometry as well as biological sample preparation techniques. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in mass spectrometry. We are especially interested in candidates with prior experience working with method development and sample preparation. It is expected that a significant portion of time will be spent on developing novel sample preparation procedures for high-throughput metabolomics. Excellent communication skills and an ability to interact with other staff in the lab and with collaborators in various networks are essential.
7.応募期限 July 31, 2018. However, applications will be evaluated as received and qualified candidates will be interviewed ongoingly.
8.選考 (1) Initial screening will be performed by the examination of application materials.
(2) Selected applicants will be interviewed via Skype and may be requested to interview in person at GU with a formal research seminar.
9.採用予定日 The initial start date is flexible, but the position is available immediately.
10.応募書類 (1) A Curriculum Vitae (Form 1)
(2) A List of Publications and Activities (Form 2)
(3) A list of persons to whom the applicant’s research and educational achievement can be referred (including name and contact information)
