4. Job description【Research】 In GIAR’s Gene Therapy Science Division, the following research will be carried out to promote research in elucidating the mechanism of gene expression regulation and utilizing it to control diseases such as tumors.
- Currently, we are advancing research to elucidate the mechanism of gene expression regulation with a focus on developing new cancer treatment and evaluation methods. We are working on developing novel analytical methods using DNA barcodes to elucidate the mechanism of gene expression regulated by these spatiotemporal multifactorial interactions. Additionally, we are progressing in the development of novel therapeutic molecules based on anti-tumor mechanisms discovered in previous studies. Experimental techniques mainly include conventional molecular biology methods, animal experiments using mice, next-generation sequencing, and bioinformatics analysis.
- Many graduate students and faculty members who have conducted research with the professor of the laboratory have successfully obtained research grants. We will continue to collaborate to prepare grant applications to secure research grants.
- In addition to participating in projects being conducted in the laboratory, individuals are encouraged to pursue their own projects for future independence.

- During the term, the performance of the successful candidate will be reviewed and the term will be renewed if s/he successfully passes the review process. The renewed term will be up to 10 years from the date of the first appointment as a faculty member.
- Retirement age will be the end of the fiscal year of 65 years of age.
10. QualificationsThe candidate must meet all of the following requirements:
- The candidate must hold or are expected to hold a doctoral degree at the time of appointment (December 1, 2024).
- The candidate must have expertise in tumor biology, genome biology, molecular biology or related fields. Additionally, who are willing to promote cutting-edge and original research in these fields, as well as to engage in educational activities with high motivation.
- The candidate must have obtained a master’s degree (or bachelor’s degree for graduates of 6-year undergraduate programs) within the past 16 years at the time of hiring.
11. SalaryThe annual salary system will be adopted, and the retirement allowance will be paid.
Basic salary will be determined based on academic and work experience in accordance with the Employment Regulations for Faculty and Staff Members at Gunma University and the Salary Regulations for Faculty Members under the Annual Salary System (Item 2) under the Employment Regulations.
In addition, allowances for commuting, housing, dependent, and others will be provided, and there is a salary increase system.

Approximately JPY 5,900,000
- Example of annual basic salary for an assistant professor with 3 years of work experience after completing a doctoral degree;
Approximately JPY 5,460,000
12. Working hoursRegular working hours are from 8:30 to 17:15.
The discretionary work system for professional services will be adopted.
(The daily working hours are deemed to amount to 7 hours and 45 minutes.)

14. Non-work daysSaturdays, Sundays, national holidays as provided in the Act on National Holidays, year-end and New Year holidays (from December 29 to January 3)
