【Report】 The 6th GIAR International Symposium

On December 18-19, the 6th GIAR International Symposium took place on Kiryu campus. After the welcome address by President Hiroshi Hiratsuka, the invited speakers from around the world and GIAR member delivered their talks in the field of silicon chemistry, fluorine chemistry and materials chemistry. Each talk derived a number of fruitful discussions from the audience and gave us opportunities for networking and interdisciplinary research. Finally, this event successfully ended with the closing remarks by Division Director Masashi Sonoyama.

GIAR was established in April, 2014 to promote globally competitive research in the fields where Gunma University had great strengths, namely “Integrated Oncology Research” and “Endocrinology, Metabolism and Signal Research”. Last year, we newly developed the area of “Element Science Research” and started the collaboration with ENSCM. Currently, each laboratory at GIAR conducts cutting-edge research activities with the top-level researchers from home and abroad. Through this symposium, we had over 100 attendees, and it was a great occasion to introduce the advanced research at GIAR.
